58. <p>Als Opener spielten <strong>Malevolent </strong>aus Duisburg. Eine recht junge Band, die seit 3 Jahren aktiv ist und sich dem klassischen Ruhrpott-Thrash verschrieben hat, der subjektiv betrachtet in dargebotener Form musikalisch in etwa an Sodom der &#8222;Agent Orange&#8220;-Ära erinnerte und zudem unverkennbare velberter &#8222;Violent Force&#8220;-Einflüsse bot. Wo wir gerade beim Thema &#8222;Violent Force&#8220; wären.. Ob man sich namenstechnisch vom VF-Klassiker &#8222;Malevolent Assault of Tomorrow&#8220; inspirieren ließ? Optisch passten zumindest Teile der Band 1A in die 80er, als wären sie just alten Fotografien von Angelripper, Destructor und Witchhunter zur &#8222;Obsessed by Cruelty&#8220;-Ära entsprungen. Die Jungs, geschätzt alle Anfang 20 und mit einer unbändigen Motivation, die sie offenbar durch ihre Zeitmaschine direkt aus ranzigen Altenessener Hinterhöfen zwischen 1984 und 1989 holten, beherrschten ihre Instrumente und überzeugten durch Songs, die zum Moshen einluden; highspeed Gitarrengedresche, das wie ein scheppernder Güterzug mit 80km/h durch den Kopf zog und gnadenlose Soli. Malevolent sollte man definitiv auf dem Schirm behalten! </p>

164. <p>Als zweite Band spielten <strong>Rotting Demise</strong> aus Gelsenkirchen. Optisch sind die Mitglieder irgendwo beim Blackmetal zu verorten und passen allesamt in ein schlüssiges, homogenes Bühnenkonzept. Musikalisch startete hier der Flieger nach Tampa und nach Schweden, wo man sich klassischer Floridadeath- und Schwedendeatheinschläge bediente, die jedoch mit satanischen Philosophien, Horrorfilmimages und einem Hauch Blackmetal gespickt waren. Woran es mich spontan erinnerte? Schwer zu sagen.. Eine Mischung aus Deicide, Belphegor und Dismember kam mir bei manchen Liedern direkt ins Gedächtnis. Präzises Drumming, wie aus dem Uhrwerk, Geknüppel, fiese Riffs, die so fies und schwarz waren, dass sie einem die Fingernägel beim Hören zogen und die Nackenmuskulatur erwartungsvoll zucken ließen. Ich kannte die Band schon länger vom Namen her, aber befasste mich leider nie so wirklich mit ihrem Output, was ich nach diesem Konzert sehr bedauerte. Denn Rotting Demise wissen musikalisch sehr zu gefallen!</p>

270. <p>Die dritte Band des Abends kam ebenfalls aus dem wunderschönen Gelsenkirchen und erweiterte das schillernde Lokalkolorit des Ruhrpottlineups auf 75%: Die Rede ist von <strong>Smorrah</strong>. Wer aus dem Ruhrgebiet stammt und in der Metalszene unterwegs ist, Smorrah jedoch nicht durch ihre Musik kennt, kennt ihr Logo auf jeden Fall durch ihre Präsenz auf Konzertflyern, Stickern in einschlägigen Szenebars (ich sage jetzt nicht Café Nord!) und ihrem umtriebigen Treiben in der lokalen Metalszene und dem Promoten lokaler Bands und Events (Stichwort: Gelsen Metal Alliance). Die vier Jungs machen groovigen Thrash&#8217;n&#8217;Deathmetal bei dem der ein oder andere klassische Hardcorebreakdown zu finden ist. Ein musikalischer Presslufthammer, gespeist aus Pantera, Sodom und Hatebreed mit einer gehörigen Ruhrpottattitüde, bei der man sich als gebürtiger Gelsenkirchener direkt zuhause fühlt! Die Ansagen zwischen den Songs waren ein weiteres Highlight für sich! Was man hier soundtechnisch nicht vermutet: Smorrah haben nur eine Gitarre, aber einen beispielhaften Sound, der kompromisslos in die Magengrube geht und groovt, teils slayermäßig auf der ungegriffenen Saite galoppiert, ergänzt durch einen rotzig surrenden Bass und der typischen, geradlinigen bummtschak-Schießbude. Stimmig und stimmungsvoll.</p>

392. <p>Die letzte Band des Abends und somit Headliner waren <strong>Knife</strong>, die gegen 23 Uhr die Bühne betraten und das würdige Highlight des Abends darstellten. Die einzige Band, die an dem Abend nicht aus dem Ruhrpott stammte, wurde aus dem benachbarten Hessen, genauer: aus Marburg, importiert und hat sich in den 5 Jahren seit ihrer Gründung bereits einen Kultstatus erarbeitet. Als zweite klassische g/b/dr/voc-Besetzung des Abends erfreuten Knife das Publikum mit ihrem energiegeladenen Bastard aus Black-, Speed-, Thrashmetal und Punk. Jedoch nicht per se in der klassischen, teuflischen Blackthrashschiene schwimmend, die seit einigen Jahren ihre Renaissance erlebt und ihre sinisteren Wurzeln bei Venom, alten Sodom und co findet (sicherlich sind auch diese Einschläge zu verorten). Was Knife spielt, ist eher der rockigere, motörheadigere Cousin: Hart, roh &#8211; aber dennoch nicht unmelodiös, wahnwitzig schnell, fesselnde Soli, derbe rotzig und energiegeladen als hätte die Bühne unter Strom gestanden. Und genau das war der Fall: Die Bands des Abends waren allesamt so fesselnd, dass die ein oder andere Energiereserve manch eines Gastes bereits vorm Headliner zur Neige ging. Doch Knife schmissen den Schnelllademodus an, warfen einen musikalischen Lichtbogen voller Energie ins Publikum und luden selbst die schwächsten Akkus wieder auf 100% auf. Wer konnte da auch noch still sein? Was die Band, allem voran der Sänger Vince Nihil, darbot, glich einem gnadenlosen, schweißtreibenden Heavymetal-Punk-Workout!</p>

530. <p><strong>Fotografisches</strong>: Jetzt habe ich im Eifer des Gefechtes völlig vergessen, auf die Technik einzugehen. Würde die Konzertfotografie gerne weiter ausbauen, auch mit Reviews versehen und Emotionen schildern &#8211; aber ein Fotoblog ist dazu nicht unbedingt der beste Ort. Vielleicht sollte ich eine Unterkategorie schaffen oder das Projekt komplett ausgliedern? Ich bin mir noch nicht schlüssig. Da es hier aber noch ein Fotoblog ist, nun ein paar Gedanken zur Aufnahme und Technik.</p>

534. <p>Ich muss ehrlich gestehen, dass ich vor dem Event Bedenken in Bezug auf fotografische Perspektiven und Lichtsetzung hatte, da ich bislang nur Open Air und vor größeren Bühnen &#8211; idR aus Fotogräben &#8211; fotografierte, nicht jedoch auf engen Clubshows, direkt im oder am Rande des Moshpits und das auch rein per available light, ohne Blitz. Die Bedenken bezüglich der Perspektiven und Positionierung im Raum lösten sich schnell auf, als ich vor Ort aktiv wurde und mich frei vor der Bühne positionieren und bewegen konnte. Was ich immer wieder toll finde ist, dass man selbst am Rande des wildesten Moshpits auf Metalkonzerten immer mit Respekt behandelt wird. Beim Anblick der Kamera wurde ich sogar oft vorgelassen, konnte ein paar Aufnahmen aus der Frontrow machen und verzog mich wieder in die Ecke, um anderen nicht mit meinen 2m im Wege zu stehen, doch die Grübelei wegen des Lichts und des Outputs zog sich bis nach dem Event, als ich die Bilder sichtete und bearbeitete.</p>

538. <p>Der Konzertkeller im Helvete ist eine enge und dunkle Location, die kein einfaches Spielfeld ist. In Kombination mit dem Nebel bot sich oft eine schlecht einzuschätzende Gesamtsituation. Ich hielt die Kamera oft einfach nur drauf, drückte im Serienbildmodus ab und hoffte, dass die Lichtstimmung bei dem schnellwechselnden Stroboskoplicht auf einigen Aufnahmen stimmte. Eine effektive Methode, die sich auch bei der actionlastigen Vogelfotografie (Vögel im Kampf oder Flug) bewährt hat und auch hier gute Ergebnisse lieferte, wie sich hinterher herausstellte.</p>

542. <p>Doch bis dahin hatte ich Muffensausen, als ich die Kamera an den PC anschloss und die Fotos sichtete. Entgegen jeder Panik waren die meisten Fotos allerdings bereits im Rohzustand fotografisch besser als erwartet. Ich selbst bin &#8211; wie so oft &#8211; mein härtester Kritiker. Gerade in Sachen Fotografie, kann ich schlecht über Kompromisse hinwegsehen und verzeihe mir selbst nur wenige Fehler. Einer davon war, dass ich die Auto-ISO Range etwas irrational anpasste und in ISO-Bereichen von 6400-8000  arbeitete, obwohl das Licht an der Bühne zeitweilig für 1/800s ausreichte und ich dadurch die ISO hätte deutlich weiter senken können. Aber durch das Stroboskoplicht waren auch dies nur Spitzen, die nicht permanent erreicht wurden. So war ich mit den teils zu hoch wirkenden ISO-Werten auf der sicheren Seite und konnte mich an die dynamischen Lichtverhältnisse anpassen. </p>

546. <p>Nach dem Import in LR schnitt ich die Aufnahmen zu, passte Farben an und entrauschte sie final, so dass auch die hohen ISO-Werte nicht ins Gewicht fielen. Und ganz ehrlich.. Rauschen ist heute kein Problem mehr! Daher sollte man sich nicht vor zu hohen Werten fürchten. Wenn die Kamera nativ nicht rauscharm arbeitet, lässt sich per Software mittlerweile sehr gut nachhelfen. </p>

550. <p>Als Blende kam beim 24-70mm durchgängig 2.8 zum Einsatz, im Ultraweitwinkel 4. Auf längere Brennweiten verzichtete ich bewusst angesichts der Lichtthematik. Faustregel: der Nenner der Belichtungszeit sollte mindestens gleich groß, besser noch größer sein, als die verwendete Brennweite, um Verwackler zu vermeiden. Abgesehen davon, erschien mit die Location auch zu klein, um dort mit einem 70-200er zu arbeiten.</p>

Daher sind die meisten Bilder reine Belegbilder ohne fotografischen Anspruch, jedoch mit hohem persönlichen und emotionalen Wert für mich!</p>

670. <p>Denn ich habe gemerkt, dass man auch seine Freude an der Vogelfotografie haben kann, wenn man den fotografischen Aspekt nicht zu verbissen betrachtet, sondern sein Augenmerk tatsächlich auf die einzelnen Arten legt und die Tiere einfach beobachtet, sie analysiert und sie als &#8222;Sammelkarten&#8220; betrachtet, die man in verschiedenen Ausführungen in seine Sammlung aufnehmen kann. 734. <p>Der <strong>Buntspecht </strong>war bereits aus großer Ferne zu hören, wie er die morschen Birken bearbeitete und dort höchstwahrscheinlich überwinternde Insekten und Larven aus dem Totholz pickte. Ein schöner Fund, aber Buntspechte sind eigentlich gar nicht so selten für mich. </p>

738. <p>Erfreuter war ich über den <strong>Gimpel</strong>/<strong>Dompfaff</strong>, der mich vom Wegesrand aus seinem sicheren Brombeerendickicht beobachtete. Ich glaube, ich kann mir an einer Hand abzählen, wie oft ich Gimpel während der letzten 10 Jahre sah. </p>

742. <p>Das Sammelfieber war geweckt und wurde alsbald durch einen weiblichen <strong>Buchfink </strong>gestillt. Eines der beiden Highlights meiner Touren übers Areal der Zeche und Kokerei Zollverein ist definitiv der Fund der <strong>Schwanzmeisen</strong>, die in einer bestimmten Gegend der Brache zu Hauf vorkommen und kaum zu überhören sind. Jedoch bedarf es einiges an Geduld und Geschick, diese flinken und scheuen Vögel zu fotografieren. Auch hier daher nur ein Belegfoto, ohne großen fotografischen Anspruch. </p>

746. <p>Gleiches gilt für das <strong>Wintergoldhähnchen</strong>, das ich zum allerersten Mal sah. Hier war sehr viel Geduld vonnöten, um den Vogel auch nur annähernd zu erblicken und zu fotografieren. Auch hier verbleibe ich lediglich mit Belegbildern, weiß aber nun, wo ich sie finde. </p>

750. <p>Ein Bild, das schon fast einen künstlerischen Aspekt aufweist, ist die <strong>Nilgans</strong>, die hoch oben in den roten Bandbrücken der Kokerei schnatterte und sich perfekt in die Farbgebung einpflegt. </p>

754. <p>Ein Vogel, der definitiv zu wenig Beachtung und Aufmerksamkeit findet, ist die <strong>Blaumeise</strong>. Sie ist allgegenwärtig, jedes Kind kennt sie und ihren Ruf und doch geht sie oftmals einfach unter. Woran liegt es? Für viele ist sie einfach zu banal, zu präsent. Daher widmete ich ihnen bislang auch nicht die Aufmerksamkeit, die ihnen eigentlich zustünde. Wie oft habe ich nicht auf den Auslöser gedrückt, wenn sich neugierige Blaumeisen neben mir niedergelassen haben, wie oft war ich enttäuscht, dass sich die vermeintlichen Schwanzmeisen sich dann doch als Blaumeisen entpuppten. Doch diese Meinung muss ich definitiv revidieren. Das kleine Blaumeisenhähnchen saß mit geschwollenem Kamm direkt auf Augenhöhe in einem Strauch und meckerte mich lauthals an. Wahrscheinlich war ich in sein Revier eingedrungen oder störte den Balztanz &#8211; ich kann nur vermuten. Fakt ist aber: Es posierte so perfekt, dass ich die Situation nutzen musste. Da hier für mich der fotografische Aspekt definitiv gegeben ist, wird es zu der Blaumeise noch einen gesonderten Beitrag mit einer kleinen Bilderserie geben.</p>

758. <p>Gleiches gilt für die vielen <strong>Rotkehlchen</strong>, die durch ihre Zutraulichkeit und Neugier eigentlich immer perfekt posieren und sich fotografieren lassen. </p>

762. <p>Aufgenommen habe ich alle Bilder mit dem Sigma 150-600mm Sports an der 7D2. Meinem oben genannten Bewertungssystem folgend, würde ich alle Fotos in Gruppe C einordnen: Belegbilder ohne fotografischen Anspruch. Lediglich die Blaumeise schaffte es in Gruppe B, mit Tendenz Richtung A, da für mich hier schon ein gewisser fotografischer Anspruch gegeben ist. Weitere Ausnahme: Die Heckansicht des Wintergoldhähnchens sortiere ich sogar nur in Gruppe D ein, da hier für mich so gut wie gar nichts stimmt, der Vogel jedoch bestimmbar ist.</p>

Überrascht über die freie Fahrt über die Autobahnen des Ruhrgebietes erreichte ich die Dinslakener Emschermündung noch rechtzeitig &#8211; zumindest stand der Kühlturm noch. Aufgrund der Verspätung musste ich jedoch umdisponieren und konnte meinen geplanten Platz nicht einnehmen. Irgendwo in einer Hecke fand ich jedoch noch eine Lücke, in der ich mich samt Ausrüstung positionieren konnte. Nicht optimal, aber das Wesentliche konnte ich einfangen. Zum Suchen eines besseren Standortes war leider auch keine Zeit mehr.</p>

846. <p>Um Punkt 11 Uhr war es dann so weit: 240 Kilogramm Sprengstoff ließen den 165 Meter hohen Kühlturm in Zeitlupe in sich zusammenfallen. Alles in allem recht unspektakulär, doch sehenswert! Ich rechnete bei Weitem nicht mit so viel Andrang: Menschen saßen am Rheinufer in Campingstühlen, grillten und tranken Glühwein. 857. <p>Im Anschluss der Sprengung ging es direkt zum Schauplatz des Geschehens. Die Straßen waren mit dichtem Staubt bedeckt und der Schutthaufen des einst so riesigen Kühlturmes, ruhte eher bescheiden mit nur wenigen Metern Höhe auf seinem Fundament. Einsatzkräfte zogen ab und Gutachter der Abbruchfirma starteten eine Begehung des Areals. Wenig später trudelten auch weitere Zaungäste ein, die die Überreste des grauen Riesen fotografieren und sich den Staub von der Kleidung schlugen.</p>

957. <p>Allerdings sind es oft solche übertriebenen Bearbeitungen, die bei der breiten (eher nicht fotoaffinen) Masse meist besser ankommen.. Dann heißt es &#8222;was für tolle Farben&#8220; &#8211; obwohl einfach nur Sättigung und Dynamik am Anschlag liegen, Schatten hochgezogen wurden und der Kontrast erhöht wurde &#8211; was aber im Umkehrschluss zu Verfremdungen und Halos führt. Auf dem Handy wirkt es dann ganz anders, als am PC.. Der mitunter noch kalibrierte Monitor zeigt einem dann die doch eher unschöne Wahrheit an.</p>

1042. <p>Das heutige Foto zeigt einen großen Brachvogel im Balzflug, irgendwo am Dümmersee von vor 2 Jahren (wenn ich mich recht entsinne). Hier wollte ich ein wenig die Farben anpassen und die Möglichkeit schaffen, das Foto trotz massiven Croppens dennoch großformatig drucken zu können. Lightroom bietet dazu mächtige Werkzeuge, die aus einem Cropfoto wieder ein volles 24Mpix-Werk zaubern können, ohne dass das Ergebnis durch Artefakte nach der Skalierung verunstaltet ist. 1093. <p>Besonders das Rohrammerhähnchen hat es mir im Nachgang doch sehr angetan: Das Motiv, aber auch die technische Umsetzung empfinde ich als gelungen. Dank neuer Funktionen in Lightroom 13 lassen sich auch unschön verrauschte Aufnahmen vorzeigbar herrichten. Dies ist ein solches Beispiel, in dem jegliches ISO-Rauschen herausgerechnet wurde.</p>

1097. <p>Beim Kiebitz sitzt leider der Fokus mehr auf der Flanke, als auf dem Kopf. Dennoch finde ich das Bild zeigenswert &#8211; insbesondere ob der Tatsache, dass er Vogel des Jahres 2024 ist.</p>

1101. <p>Spannend ist auch die gezeigte gebänderte Prachtlibelle, Calopteryx splendens. Zum einen mag ich solche Libellen persönlich wirklich sehr, zum anderen ist die Entstehung dieses Fotos aus technischer Sicht recht interessant. Ursprünglich wollte ich damals Vögel fotografieren und war dementsprechend nicht mit &#8222;makrotauglichen&#8220; Objektiven unterwegs. Doch ist letztendlich alles eine Sache der Perspektive. Die Moral der Geschicht&#8216;: Das Makro brauchst Du nicht! Aufgenommen wurde das Bild mit 600mm Brennweite aus circa 3m Entfernung. </p>
