Never alone again

I found this short story on the internet:

There was a married atheist couple who had one child. They never told their daughter about Jesus Christ. One evening – the little girl was five years old – the parents argued with each other and the father shot the mother in front of the child. Thereafter, the father shot himself. The little girl saw everything. Then she was given to foster parents. The mother was a Christian and took the little girl to church. When Sunday school at the Church started, the mother told the teacher that the little girl has never heard of Jesus and asked her to have patience with her. The teacher held a picture of Jesus up and asked: “Do any of you know who this is?” The little girl put her hand up and said: “I know! That is the man who held me the night my parents died.”

I don't know if this really happened or if someone made it up. However it may be, it tells a piece of reality which we are able to experience with our God.

An old saying goes: “As Christians we are not better, but we are better off!” We have a God, Who has loved us since creation and has created us in His image. He loves us so much that He always wants what is best for us. Regardless of what we are going through, He is on our side and accompanies us throughout our lives.

Lately one hears more and more of how Jesus appears to radical Islamic people in their dreams and converts them. Our God is not a remnant of some past story, He is a God who still proves Himself powerfully to people as a living God.

When you are lonely and alone during times of distress, call to Him, as we read in Psalm 50:15: “And call upon Me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify Me.” That doesn't mean that we won't experience hard times any more, but we have a Comforter on our side who accompanies us through such dark times.
