Don't remain alone

Today is that time again! As in the past years, in the last weekend of October, I am going to the Faith Centre for the Men's Conference. The main theme has, for years, been “Reformation of the Men's Hearts”. The topic this time is “As in heaven, so on earth”.

Many Bible Scriptures tell us how we should have fellowship with each other and with God. But, we are also warned against having fellowship with the wrong people, who are not under the Lordship of God.

Each year, the Men's Conference consists of a fellowship of over 1000 men who have accepted the Lord as their Saviour, or want to do so. From the history of the apostles, we know how God envisions our gatherings. Three out of four points are experienced intensively at this conference: the fellowship, the teaching and the prayer. The fourth point, the breaking of bread, is something which is more suitable in the framework of the local church.

For four days we remain very close to the Father's heart. The time consists of praise, prayer and teaching. What we are often short of in our everyday lives, what sometimes makes us empty and “human”, that is experienced to its fullest, during this time.

In Hebrews 10:25 we read: “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” This is, in the first instance, meant to be for the local Church service, however it is certainly also good to see outside the box and have fellowship with other Christians.
