Christian devotions in the Daily-Message

Moments

“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

John 3:16

Do you sometimes also feel like like this, that you ask yourself, why you are even alive? That you ask yourself what the sense of it all is?

I, at any rate, have moments like these now and then. Moments, when I am sad. Moments, when I feel that no-one truly loves me. Moments, when I just feel lonely.

At times like these not even the memories help, memories of moments of joy and security. And in these moments I sometimes pick up the Bible and read about how lonely Jesus felt when they crucified Him. One friend fled, another disowned Him and His Father remained silent. What for? To what end am I doing this, He must have asked Himself. And still, He saw it through to the end: “In Thy hands I commend My Spirit”.

Jesus saw it through for us. For you and me. He suffered the pain unto eternal life. He is the One Who is always there for me, an eternal Friend for Whom my life ultimately becomes worthwhile. He purchased my life with His Blood and so my life is worthy and purposeful and I would not want to ever throw it away or miss out on it.

Thank You Brother Jesus
