I told a friend that I wanted to write another message “I had another idea for a theme” I said, “but, I can't remember it anymore, my brain is like swiss cheese...”
In some way or another we all have these holes (gaps) in our brain. Our memory is not always that which we want it to be. How often do we forget something, for example to thank God for something beautiful or to say something nice to another person? When we get to bed at night, how often do we recall what we missed out on or forgot to do that day?
Sometimes these holes in our memory are small and sometimes big, sometimes we can still make up for it, but sometimes it is too late. Some things, which we don't do, can't be done anymore. And even if we regret it, it always happens again.
However, fortunately its not only these holes in our memory – there are also holes in the pierced hands and feet of our Lord. Through His suffering, dying and resurrection, He took our holes upon Himself. We can offload all our mistakes and oversights onto Him, He already carried them on the Cross at Golgotha, He sunk them into the deepest ocean and was resurrected for us, so that we, when we offload a burden on Him, can rise from the deep again.
The cross covers all holes and ditches in our lives. Through Him we can look up again and move in the presence of our Father. He holds us and carries us, so that we don't land repeatedly in our own ditches.
Before which ditch (hole) are you presently standing? Take it to the cross and live!
I wish you a blessed day.
