To continue with the blessing of God

The nation of Israel commenced their journey. And during this arduous journey to the Promised Land, the Lord gave Moses His instructions.

One's name is something very important. One's name represents the person who I call by that name. And it is the Name of God that is laid upon the people and in its unique manner binds them to God. Involuntarily a text from the prophet Isaiah springs to mind, where it says: “...I have called thee by thy name; thou art Mine.” (Isaiah 43:1)

Here God sets His Name upon the people, to express the innermost, most intimate belonging which binds people together or binds God with people. Therefore, this blessing, which God awards here, is also not meant as only being intended for a group of people, but is meant for each and every individual person. With this, God tells us that each and every person is important to Him.

As a so-called Aaronic blessing, we experience this strong encouragement which helps people on their daily paths. Patrick, the apostle of Ireland, has developed this blessing and made it into a prayer of blessing:

“Christ, as a light illumine and guide me.
Christ, as a shield overshadow me.
Christ under me;
Christ over me;
Christ beside me on my left and my right.
This day be within and without me, lowly and meek, yet all-powerful.
Be in the heart of each to whom I speak;
in the mouth of each who speaks unto me.
This day be within and without me, lowly and meek, yet all-powerful.
Christ as a light;
Christ as a shield;
Christ beside me on my left and my right.
May the peace of the Lord Christ go with you, wherever He may send you.
May He guide you through the wilderness, protect you through the storm.
May He bring you home rejoicing at the wonders He has shown you.
May He bring you home rejoicing once again into our doors.
In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen”

This blessing I wish to lay upon your hearts and bless you therewith today.
