The Four Seasons

“But be not thou far from me, O LORD, O my Strength, haste thee to help me”

Psalm 22:19

The hot days of summer have been over for quite some time now. The thick jerseys have re-appeared from the cupboard and the heating has been on for several weeks. When I think about it, Christmas is only two months away, so it won't be long now until the first snow falls.

It gets dark much earlier again. We are amidst the gloomy days of Fall. And, just as the seasons change, so do my feelings and moods change. Sometimes they are light and warm, at other times cold and sombre.

My relationship with God does not always remain the same either. Here too, I experience highs and lows. How fortunate we are that God knows and has experienced these same feelings. From the joy of creation, the grief of the fall of man, the crucifixion of His only beloved Son, to the joy of the resurrection.

I am able to joyfully worship and praise God, but in times of anger and mourning I can shout at Him and plead with Him.

In Him, Who has experienced all that we experience and more, I find a loving Father Who understands me and always sustains me.

God, I thank You, that You are always there for me.
